WASHINGTON - An antiwar protest in front of the White House on Wednesday led to the arrest of some high-profile figures - including two Nobel Peace Prize winners.

INDEPTH: Dissenting voices: The antiwar movement

A total of 58 people were arrested for demonstrating without a permit, while another 10 were arrested for crossing a police line.

Among those in custody are Mairead Corrigan Maguire and Jody Williams. Maguire got her award in 1976 for leading a peace movement in Northern Ireland, while Williams won in 1997 for her efforts to ban landmines.

Also among the arrested was Daniel Ellsberg, a former marine and high-level military analyst who leaked Pentagon secrets about the Vietnam War to The New York Times in 1971.

Maguire told reporters that they plan on staging the antiwar protests in front of the White House every day until Good Friday, which is on April 18 this year.
