Hello elmat, I am at the airport lounge. Your pizza scenario is now definitely not on. Your follow-on prediction of increasing troop strength for one side is spot on.

OTOneH you are making me very nervous about my recent command to sharply reduce the strength of my Aztec Gold Expeditionary Force operating in Inflation Mountain and Deflation Cannon. I will reinforce the Aztec Gold Expeditionary Force upon Saddam’s fall.

OTOtherH you are worrying me about my even more recent directive to prepare ambushes along the path of retreat of Shangri-la Hotels on the SARS/WAT-WOT campaign front. I had lowered my limit order bids this AM.

OTThirdH, I am still of the opinion that Saddam will fall, even as the entire region will plunge into darkness, costing much effort to be contained, straining finances, leading to I do not know what, but not giving the crowds quite what they want, and so my AEM & HMY straddle pincer attack should yield some booty.

Right now, only two things are for sure, (a) many political careers are on the line, and (b) many more lives are on the countertop.

It is too early to speculate on the unthinkable, namely military stalemate, geopolitical quagmire, and PR defeat, or whether we will see street-to-street in London, England, before we see same in Tehran, Iran.

By all indications N.Korea is now busy preparing for long range nuclear war and short distance "shock and awe" campaign (15 minutes to S.Korean presidential palace), and so it is also too early to say where the next white hot spot will be, Korea, Iran, England, or Zimbabwe.

TeoTwawKi beckons.

Chugs, Jay

Oh, common... we win... it's just a matter of time. That said, it matters not to 'Booms, Busts, and Recoveries' other than perhaps another hundred bucks on the upside target of gold due to more debt on US balance sheet.

BTW... IMO one needs to take careful observations over the next week. Not for military purposes, but for purposes of seeing reality. How ARE the Iraqi people feeling towards their 'liberators' vs Saadam and the army???

I think Rumsfeld is seeing how long supply lines can be - sort of an experiment.

It would be real hard to cut the left flank or western supply lines - it's out in the desert.

Enough Apaches will be up to keep the supply lines secure.
There are also the A-10s, Puff the Magic Dragon (now C-130 (Hercules) instead of DC-3s (Dakotas)), Marine Cobra helicopter gunships (near end of life cycle), British Tornado fighters (good ground attack fighter)

I expect the U.S. forces may pull back after initial contact to try to draw more Iraqi elemnets out in the open.
Once they are in the open....

elmatador -"Without fuel, food or water they will be pounded by the Iraqis, being re-supplied by air."

Sorry, the Iraqis get pounded, not coalition forces.

<<Without fuel, food or water they will be pounded by the Iraqis, being re-supplied by air. >>

God Damn ...What are you there? How the hell would you know? This is just wishful thinking on your part...It makes about as much sense as your "pizza" prediction.

BTW the Iraqi pilots wouldn't DARE go up in the air and I think you know why.
