What is the point to argue here??? I just described the symptom suffered by that dozen or so Chinese who were working in Chinese embassy in Kuwait during the 1st Gulf War, and at least 2 of them already dead of liver cancer. If depleted uranium did not contribute to them, then maybe the US even used some nuclear weapons. Who knows?

The articles noted in my post were written by or quoted experts in scientific or medical fields. Both sides of the stories are in those referenced articles. I assume there are soft and hard scientists out there. For a long time the "hard" scientists also claimed no negative health impacts from asbestos or lead pipe and lead paint. As a matter of fact, there is nothing wrong with asbestos and lead paint, as long as it is not confined (encapsulated). If frayed and the fiber particles float in the air and available to be breathed in, then it is a different story.

By the way, individuals react differently to radiation from the sun. A friend of mine died of melanoma at the back of his neck from being in the sun too long, and he did not discover the problem until the tumor had grown deeper than the skin. Many other people go sunbathing to get a tan and they never get melanoma.

It is based on statistics of impacted population, and the acceptable tolerance for that society. A gold mining operation cyanide leaching process that releases cyanide based chemicals into the streams would be acceptable in many poorer communities that has to rely on the mining jobs to earn paycheck and a living, and the tolerance for environmental disaster is much higher. Even if it cause 10% or 20% rate of early mortality, it still provides jobs and livelihood for the remaining 90% and is still acceptable.
