Hmmm... let me see - I think there are only a handful of those out there - maybe none outside Iqbal's family? > The docility of Iraqis and their inability to break the chains under Saddam surprises me to no bounds. I do sometime sincerely think that may be ‘democracy’ is alien to very core of Iraqi ideology or for that matter the Arab ideology at large. The shoeless children, the populace in rags and lack of basic amenities of a nation that has 112 billion barrel of known oil reserves further strengthens my believes that some regimes should not stay, these are exactly kind of uncertain pockets that needs to be removed. Why does Al Jazeera fails to notice the abject poverty of Iraqi nation, they would say it is because of sanctions but in 1990 Iraq when I was escaping through Iraq after invasion of Kuwait and their were no sanctions than but Basra was as miserable and pitiable as I see it today on tele. The loss squandered opportunities of a nation that has been subject to useless wars for last 25 years is wicked. A strong man is better than teeming suffering millions; it is shame for Arab nation to condone Iraqi atrocities towards its own citizens in name of false Arab nationalism. Al-Jazeera talks of democracy and freedom and free press but what kind of free press is this when the only thing it does is to highlight the civilian targets in Baghdad conveniently overlooking the millions of Iraqis citizens living in disgraceful conditions, any self respecting media or journalist would look at the cause of this war and definitely would defer politicisation over human misery or at least maintain a balance. In Afghan war Arab media played an equally detestable role only to discover in finality that Afghans wanted freedom from the shackles of Talebins, so does poor Basarites, a choice between ‘bullets’ and ‘freedom’ leaves Basarites mostly in camp of wilful partners in self imposed slavery, the will of recuperative ability it seems has expired. Saddam biggest curse bestowed on Iraqis has been his ability to kill the fervour of freedom that is something that every living nation is proud off that is something most sadly missing in Iraqi milieu. We the living people of the Islamic descent who value freedom savour every moment of it. So do will Iraqis in a very near future I have no doubt about it, human beings can be suppressed but once they taste openness and free media it works both ways, Al Jazeera surely is sowing seed of comparative evaluation, the propaganda war can be won for few days but truth will prevail and win over these Nazi like institutions.
