Romans 3:28-29
A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.

1Cor. 7:18-19 Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man uncircumcised when he was called? He should not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

Galatians 5:5-6 But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

Ephesians 2: 11-13 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)-- remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

PORK:

Acts 10:

9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.
10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.
11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air.
13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14 "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
15 The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

So how come most Christians aren't circumcised?

Damn! It hurts.

</> Why is pork sold in such large quantities in supermarkets in the bible belt?

It's the other white meat.

The earliest Christians distinguished between religious ceremonial and moral laws. They also rejected any idea of attainment of acceptance by God due to an observation of the law. You might notice that Jews today do not practice much of their historic religion since Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in 70 AD. For Christians baptism replaced circumcision for the most part. Food, including food offered to pagan idols, circumcision, Sabbath (or the day of worship) were all important enough issues to receive specific attention and mention in the earliest documents. They were no longer considered distinguishing characteristics for faith. The moral and prophetic concerns in the law were actually heightened and internalized (hatred in your heart is the same as murder, etc.). So why, you ask? The emphasis became more about the horizontal and vertical relationships, rather than a mechanical observation of legal precepts, IMO. Why is a good question, and a huge topic, really. I find it interesting, but that's probably more than enough right now.
