Agreed. Although I don't think anyone can predict how long it will last. Thus far this has served as a reminder of how ugly war is. Maybe thats a good reminder for all of us. I hope this can go quickly BUT ONLY if its done right. I don't want to finish in 2 weeks and not have the job done right.

The clear difference here is we are there as long as it takes to "win." There was never a clear definition of what we were trying to do in Vietnam and winning was never an option. We were trying to do the police action thing we weren't trying to defeat the north.

Sadly that is the reason it was destined to fail from the start.
