If Saddam were indeed dead, then his death will remain shielded from his people for as long (however short that may be) as the regime remains in power! No amount of exhortation on your part will get the regime to tell you the truth now!

By the way, way back in the 1950s when the Tunisian (or was he Algerian?????) leader Boumedienne had a stroke, that ghastly fact was hidden from his people. He remained in a "vegetative" Alzheimer state for many years before he finally died. But right up to the time of his death, his people (except for those in the inner circle of power) were none the wiser. As far as they and the rest of the world were concerned Boumedienne was the leader until his death revealed the truth of the matter. A very well kept secret, eh!!!
