You mean the Christians who kill the Muslims in Serbia? Or the Christians who kill abortion doctors? Or the Christians who believe that AIDS was sent by God, and carry signs like "God Hates Fags"? Or the white supremists who believe they are also Christians? There are so-called 'Christians' who either ignore the Bible, or choose convenient passages to spread their hate. And what do you mean by the 'later writings'? There is the Koran, and then there are later writings. Those later writings, like the Sunna and Hadith, are not the Koran, and are not considered "the spoken word of God". Yes, tolerance is needed. As many Muslims need to heed the Koran, many Christians need to heed the tolerance preached in the Bible.
