Steve, You should at least be honest and tell them when you were debating with people on those "scratched threads on SI" that you, in an effort to bolster your opinion, lied and said you were a Vietnam vet to garner support. You didn't need to lie to support your opinion of the war because everyone, regardless of military experience, has a right to his or her opinion. The fact that you decided to take the low road and Lie is what created the criticism of you as a person - not your stand. You have no reason to feel shame over not supporting this war. You have every reason to feel shame that you would lie about being a Vietnam Vet in a effort to validate those opinions.
