No, I said they provide cover. Without the suicide bombers, there would be a lot more attention paid to the settlers. But they suicide bombers turn spotlight on themselves, and the settlers get no coverage.

No, only one thing does: security- most of the settlements along the Green Line were established to be military cities. Those are likely to stay even after a peace treaty. Almost no Israeli will give those up.

The random settlements in the middle of the West Bank, however, were started by religious nutjobs (my best friend from high school is one of them, and I'll no longer speak to him), and they'll all eventually be dismantled.
