Tech Master,
I'm in Vienna / Austria. It'S alongside party lines. Far right, social dems and greens against the war, the conservatives "neutral" - seemingly understanding the US motives. That'S the party line. The populace is deeply devided. Don't forget Europe'S media have been fostering a culture of political correctness for more than 15 years now. If you talk to people in private, many do indeed back the US move. However they might have preferred a more "gentle" style. Well - typically European I'D say. There'S one thing I'm pointing out all the time. The Coalition army is an army of professional soldiers not of unwilling draftees (unlike our military here). That makes a real difference and for me this is a precondition for any expedition of this kind IMHO..

Many, especially the peacnicks of the Left just "project" their natural antiamerican feelings into the conflict. Others (probably me too) are siding with the US as their natural allies in a clash of cultures or a clash of societies (brutal dictatorship versus western style democracy). What I think is remarkable is that the coalition prooves not giving in to pacifism by decadence mood so prevalent in other corners of the West. Some people (presumably Americans and Britons) are willing to stand up and fight for their values and their style of society - which has been succesfully accomodating a diverse blend of cultures in the US and elsewhere around the world. Others have stopped standing up - instead they choose to sit down - willingly appeasing everyone and moving to the negotiation table. For me it was - I had enough of this - and so I too joined the supporters of the US - at least in sympathy.
