Most of the sources I've read say that the Soviets and Russians were always the biggest supporter of Saddam - we tried to cozy up to him while he was fighting the Iranians but we also tried to cozy up to the Iranians - crazy foreign policy but that's beside the point of who supplied Saddam with what - I've posted on this before and am not the type who keeps copies of what I post - but maybe you have noticed that the weapons we are confiscating from the Iraqis are mostly Russian made?
