It went to 40 because all stocks went up. It was a "bubble", something, like in Japan will never return.
MSTR for example, traded at $333 then (or in todays share count, $3330 - finance.yahoo.com.

Some estimate that it could take as much as 40 or even up to 100 years until stocks might reach the same level ...but before that happens, the companies without significant revenues and earnings will vanish,...

I've never shorted REFR dumbass. I could care less about the stock. Why don't you take me up on my offer? It's obvious you need help in more ways than one. I can't help you with your obsessive compulsive disorder but I figured that if I helped you make a few bucks we'd all get some peace and you could afford to pay the rent a little while longer. My net worth has more than doubled in the last 18 months in spite of the bear market and I currently have NO short positions. How have you done?
