You continue to wallow in the traditions of men Brian. In this case, you propagate the first lie ever told. "You shall not surely die". People do not "go" anywhere when they die. They are simply dead. Sheol and hades both mean "the imperceptible or the unseen". In other words, there are no perceptions there. You are dead. You can't percieve anything when you're dead. "The dead know not anything".

What a revelation. When people die, they are dead. Until the resurrection.

The gates of hell you speak of comes from pagan fertility worshippers in the area of cesearia phillipi. The cave where the pagan god was said to go to the underground world of the dead once a year.

The PARABLE of Lazarus and the rich man was simply another parable chastising the Pharasees. Lazarus was the gentiles and the rich man was the Jewish leaders. The "bosom of Abraham" as it were, was God's favor. Not "heaven" or some abode of heaven. Parables are not meant to be used for literal places.

Here, bible-truths.com

The pagan concept of "hell" was used by "the church of Rome" to keep it's parishoners in line. For the first 400 years ad, universal reconciliationists were very prevalent. The church of Rome changed all this.
