I think one needs to apply conventional wisdom of judging nations and leaders with a constant reality check based on their conduct in relation to human rights abuses. Appeasement and tacit overlook of conducts is dangerous, someone had to tackle this monster in the region, can you imagine what a draconian force he was gathering and how effectively he could have engaged in another cross country adventure once sanctions were over. The quiet build up of massive forces for personal propping of power is one lesson we all should learn form the second gulf war although sanctions failed to help alleviate the cause of poverty but sanctions impeded his ability to squander massive resources in aggrandizement of bigger armies and bigger threats, what do you think if he had nuke would he not use it, he would, someone needs to check the ability of instable regimes and a constant ground check is necessary something that we are seeing east of Iraq and in case of many a nations. Is it not despicable that a whole nation may suffer on altar of these egomaniac and it has no recourse because most of the liberal think that nations deserve what they get. A change should come within is the doctrine of the liberals, with million thugs sitting on the slit throat of a slain nation of 25 million how can any change come without external help? We are not into nation building but these 1 million thugs can make our global life instable! It is that point that we all discovered post 911. I was shocked with the death of the civilians in the market place in Baghdad and was moved with the descriptions of the ‘naked terror’ attack by Al- Jazeera however I keep thinking why these people could not see the same terror when the two towers were coming down, the same Al- Jazeera had million different definitions and moral equivalence of events and cause of 911. I wish they would have shown equal condemnation of the downing of the two towers. They did not, the global condemnation in the Islamic crescent was sadly absent, two wrongs make no right but it is selectivity of events that shocks me, when that human being threw himself out of that 120th floor window the support of Osama should have not been displayed on Arab Street, Arab street is very blind very very blind rather. I can say all this because I cannot be accused of racism others in west can only think and get confused as they can't even make their condmenations. Jesse Jackson kind of self denying appeasements would not work ever. Every other year he will have to beg a new thug to spare some innocent human American life. The only satisfaction I get is that at least I can write on my thread these glaring omissions by the Arab Street. False sense of securities and false peace is an idiotic idea, peace needs to be grounded on firm basis, it was not an accident that Europeans fought the two great world wars, the two wars helped eliminate after callous loss of enormous human life a sense of security the enormity and destruction opened their eyes, Bonaparte’s and two great world wars was what was required to learn respect of human life by the nations who had Voltaire and 300 years of renaissance behind them. Middle East is going through that crisis of self discovery and containment of national pride that Europeans went through in last two centuries. In a world where it is important to learn self restraint once power is ensured, the naked display of aggression a basic human tenet that surface in all societies one time or another needs to be disciplined. Naked display of aggression has been countered by equal display of force appeasement and goodwill rarely works. We are at the cross road of history some bite needs to taken out some sacs of venom needs to be emptied like in 1914 and 1939. The natural learning curve of nations should be studied in context of contemporary history where nearly all nations have shown an inborn capacity for ‘programmed to kill’ kind of eras. All have amply done so far, all liberal nations and great nations have displayed this ability with astute knack, as world connects Iraq and others are smaller manifestations of this innate human problem the inability to contain aggression in wake of growing wealth and potentials. If these cancers are left untreated they raise their heads in ugliest of forms, it is earlier detection and containment that will help arrest most damaging form of terrorism and no one should have nay doubt about it. Leave these centres of uncertainties alone and they will spiral out of control. A benign regime in Iraq would help remove lot of belligerency in the region as far am moral equivalence of any cause or event I assure you their will be no short supply of explanations ever. Surgical solutions are not invented by Jr. Bush, it is only that he has the ability to address these with foresight and fortitude that is in short supply now a days.
