Notice how for the whole year of '99 bp never went below 35%. I wish I could have these two superimposed. Tried to put them on iHub, one above the other, but it didn't work.

12:38PM Sector Watch: Semiconductor : Group still holding on to a sizeable percentage loss (SOX -2%) with the weakest links: BRCM -14.6%, TER -3.8%, AMD -3.4%, LSCC -2.1%, NSM -1.7%, AMAT -1.7%, NVLS -1.7%, INTC -1.4%. Bucking the trend today is MU +1.5%. The index fell as low as 312.48, just slightly above its 200 day sma (311.86), and bounced with short term potential for further upticks as long as intraday support at 313.39 remains intact. Next resistances are at 316.25 and 317 with a more important barrier at 319/320. The 200 day sma for the Semi HOLDRs is at 24.74.

10:52AM NVDA's decision to shift to IBM seen as positive for ATYT (ATYT) 5.31 -0.06: A Sterling analyst deems NVDA's recent announcement to shift to IBM for wafer procurement as a positive for ATYT. The speculation on the co's decision to move to IBM is attributed to its problems with TSMC and not being able to obtain encouraging yields combined with high power consumption. The analyst believes this provides "a gap for ATi Technologies to further strengthen their relationship with TSMC and accelerate the high-end 3-D graphics volume production ramp."

9:32AM Lehman would be buyers of Marvell ahead of 2H03 upside (MRVL) 20.97 -0.33: Lehman believes that Marvell's qtr is tracking towards the high end of the 7-9% guidance with less seasonality seen than expected in both storage and comm; says comm biz remains robust with the INTC GigE biz above expectations, CSCO biz growing, Yukon seeing strong designs in the white box mkt, and the storage biz continues to track slightly ahead of internal expectations with Western Digital read channels ramping.

9:31AM PMC-Sierra: lease represents significant liability - CSFB (PMCS) 6.37 -0.20: CSFB says that the lease for the co's unoccupied Mission Tower Two represents a significant balance sheet liability, which firm calculates could be a $0.45-$0.60 negative impact to the co's net cash per share balance; while PMCS is currently trading at 3.7x and 3.4x on a EV/CY03 and CY04 basis, after backing out the potential cash outlay PMCS would be trading at 4.2x and 3.8x. Price target is $5.

7:35AM Broadcom downgraded at Morgan Stanley (BRCM) 15.40: Morgan Stanley downgrades to Equal-Weight from Overweight due to the increased uncertainty caused by recent changes in mgmt and the potential for execution risk at ServerWorks; cuts price target to $21 from $30.
