There is a percentage of people who made up their mind about being anti-semitic, and they just look for conduit to express it. Palestinian/Israeli conflict and now US/Iraq are the tickets to do it without having to reveal their true motivation. This crowd probably voted for LePen just a short time ago. But it is a lot more comfortable to channel the anti-semitism through Chirac's, Schroeder's or university leftists' ideas than through those of Le Pen or Haider.

Many of the anti Semitic complaints you voice have been banging around this country for years. You probably don't see it much in NYC but it still prevalent to some degree in the hinterlands. Unlike a lot of people, I went to a middle school and high school that were half Jewish. As a result, I had a lot of early exposure to Judaism and the culture. I don't know whether its that exposure or just my personality but I get along really well with Israelis as well as Germans. You will probably go into shock but to me, Germans and Israelis are a lot a like. Both are opinionated and not shy about give those opinions. <g>

Growing up, I heard anti Semitic comments on a fairly regular basis........not a lot but enough. I guess people want to believe what they want to believe.

I'll ask some of my German friends if they saw lefty anti Semitism in school; the guy grad. 6-7 years ago; the girl 4-5 years ago.
