US resources are almost infinite, certainly compared to Iraq, and if you include those of Great Britain, couple that with a desperate stubborness, how can the outcome of the war not be a certainty? It is worse than a battle between an elephant and a mouse. The elephant is not only bigger, but also incomparably better armed. And, the Iraqi nation is not homogenous, with long standing hatred amoungst the factions. (Granted they may be more united now to fight a greater enemy). The US still hopes for a military revolt & capitulation. Failing that, close in street fighting will cost lives, some of them even US lives.

I agree, that in the long term, the "coalition" will fail in its aims of peace and love and democracy in the region.

Pretext for the war originally was to rid the menace of W.M.Ds. Justification for the war will only come if these weapons are actually used. This fact is not lost by the politicians. What can they be thinking now, as the war goes on without encountering any?

Two days ago I looked at the Al Jazeera web site briefly, and yesterday I wanted to take a longer look, only to discover it had been hacked. It is back up now, but a few days out of date.

You have a very good chance of being right. Since Iraq's army has on US uniforms and civilians can very well be soldiers there is no method for the US military to know who is who. The toll will be heavy and the hatred great at the end of this.

I feel so badly for all who are in the forces as they started out hoping to be the good guys wanting to give the Iraqi people the same freedom we had. This is a war that will eliminate trust on many civilian sides.

How do you know who you are supplying food to?
