What about taking basrah before going to bagdad?

We need to cut off the head of the snake, mike, not the tail. The downside of the intense coverage is the vapors people are getting about the war. We need a strong dose of "Patton" right now.

I watched "Charlie Rose" last night, and after John Burns (NYT) got through with his "Doom and Gloom" report from Baghdad, Ken Pollock came on and politely contradicted him. He thinks the liberation is going well. The supply line attacks were a calculated risk, and while big news, are small potatoes. He specifically was scornful of the "Saddam is a Genius" type of reporting we are getting.

He pointed out that it is one thing for the RG to set up to defend Baghdad, it is another for it to be actually carried out.
