My fear is the link between commercialization and "dumbing down" life in the US. Starbucks took a civilized cafe experience, sitting and enjoying a coffee, and turned it into McDonalds. If media becomes fast food puffballs too, the American populace slips that much further down the IQ scale. No problem if that's what the majority of people want, I guess. But the countries we compete with in the world - many of whom we have not been too friendly with lately - take a different approach. They have secondary education systems that put ours to shame. If the Olde Worlde ever escapes its sclerosis we could be in for a real eye opener, a world that moves ahead without us because we are too caught up in our own little video game. But I digress..... ;<)
