He's done that twice this year. When did he do that this year? I know he did that before he was PM. In the last twelve months.........at one point, he said that he has fond memories of growing up with the Arabs and that he doesn't see why Jews and Arabs can't coexist peacefully; however, he went on to say the Palestinians will never have their own state. I was floored. Either the sucker is totally dense which I doubt, or he gets the same pleasure toying with the Palestinians that a cat gets playing with a mouse. In the meantime, he's tearing down Palestinians' homes so that he can build his great wall. Do you think that's responsible? That's fine. It's better than letting his own people get blown up. If only Arafat worried so much about his own people. You might feel differently if it was your house being demolished.Your reasons may be valid but if Israel wanted a two state solution, it would be done by now. There is nothing to suggest that Israel is committed to a two state solution. I really think the long range plan is to annex large portions of the West Bank into Israel proper, and keep the Palestinians on 'reservations'. Maybe...maybe... that's Sharon's plan. It certainly wasn't Rabin's, it certainly wasn't Peres's, and it certainly wasn't Barak's. Every Israeli that I've ever met wants a two-state solution. In an argument like this one, words are meaningless. Bush can say over and over again, he means the Iraqi people no harm but if he really meant that he would stop the bombing. In the same way, the Israelis say they want a two state solution but it has to be on their terms. Given the history of Israel, their terms tend to be onerous and to the disadvantage of the Palestinians. One perfect example......you say the Israelis will insist on the Green Line yet the Green Line boundary gives Israel 40% more land that was originally intended under the UN partition. And I think that would be the least onerous of the Israeli terms. If you think that Israel really wants to keep the West Bank, you're wrong. They can't. Within ten years there will be more Arabs than Jews in between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. If Israel wants to be a Jewish state, it can't keep the Arab lands. Sharon knows that. I didn't say they wanted to keep the entire West Bank. They would carve out the pieces not settled by the Palestinians and/or those that have been settled by the Israelis, and leave the Palestinians in their city refugee camps.......much like the Union of S. Africa was set up. This would permit Israel to have the best of both worlds........a piece of the WB that's ethnically clean, and access to the huge aquifer under the WB and control over the water. ted Subject Titles Only Full-Text Message Boards Terms of Use About Silicon Investor | Advertise With Us | Contact Us | Terms of Use | Privacy Policy | Submit Your Site About InfoSpace | Partner With Us | Press Room | Careers Traded on NASDAQ: INSP © 2003 InfoSpace, Inc.
