Searle: No sense continuing this discussion. We've both read the pro/con arguments - and placed our bets. But that won't stop me from attempting to make one final point.(g)

At the end of the day, isn't a gold investment a hedge against the ability of societies to effectively manage their affairs (such as a stable currency and the value of paper assets) and maintain the confidence of their populations they will continue to do so?

Personally, i'm hedging (at least until xau/hui loses trend line support). (g)

Searle> Today, those choosing to hedge the USD can do so against other currencies and in fact gold itself using derivatives. For this reason, one no longer needs to actually purchase the metal.

When somebody uses gold derivatives they affect POG. Like buying calls on GFI affects GFI stock.
There are many trillions of fiat money sloshing around. We (gold bugs) need just a few billions to spill into gold to make us happy.
