Alan - let's get one thing straight.

I do not for a moment look for this to be fulfilled.

It was fulfilled.

"Some" ( the elect among them ) were "provoked to jealousy"

I believe that a large portion of the Jews were saved prior to
God judging and ending that nation.

Paul looked for all of his words to be accomplished in his lifetime..

Look at this...

Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall?
God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation
is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

Israel the Nation DID FALL

Paul say's have they stumbled that they should fall - God forbide.

God blinded the Nation Israel - so that salvation would go out to the Gentiles.

That was always God's plan - they were supposed to crucify and reject Christ.

The gentiles were always planned to be brought in.

They have no "special place" somewhere off in the future.

The gospel went out to the "whole world"

There was a revival among the Jews afterward.

Israel (carnal) was judged at the second coming of Christ.

2 Timothy 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me,
and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known,
and that ALL the Gentiles might hear:
and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

Does that ALL mean all Alan?

Romans 15:27 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are.
For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things,
their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

That verse was concerning the ministering to the Jews who did
experience revival before the end. The famine was very severe
and gentiles were called upon to help them out.

Romans 15:10 And again he saith,
Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

Paul quotes that verse to show that God had planned
to blind Israel from the gospel for a 'short period'
to drive out the apostles into the gentile world.

Alan - this is a classic verse showing the hard heartedness
of the Jews to even hear (carnally) the gospel.
This was that "blindness" that was "in part"
but not completely designed to drive them out
to preach to the Gentiles

Acts 18:6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed,
he shook his raiment, and said unto them,
Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean:
from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

These verse are not verses that were intended to cover thousands of years....

31 Even so have these also now not believed,
that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

Same Generation - not a future one.

Not this generation has NOW not believed so that through
YOUR mercy a FUTURE GENERATION may obtain mercy.

That is to butcher the scripture
