France had a multi billion dollar contract too. The Iraqi opposition has already announced that those contracts are exploitive of the Iraqi people and will not be honored. This war is about oil all right, the oil deals the French and Russians stood to lose if Sadaam were deposed. Some friends. F the French, Ream the Russians. Greedy bastards.

I would bet that after this is all over with, there will be companies from around the world that end up with oil contracts out of Iraq.

I don't know of any other companies capable of extinguishing oil well fires, although I'm sure they exist.

Our "friends" are still our friends, but I sure as hell resent the fact that they tried to obstruct our efforts to safeguard our security so that they could continue to cash in on their oil contracts with Iraq. They could have secured those contracts by taking a different approach when they realized that we were going in with or without them. Instead France and Germany stabbed the US in the back at the UN, and therefore jeopardized their position.

BTW: I've never said that we are the good guys, every one else bad, but don't you find it just a tad bit unfair that the average cost of a gallon of fuel in France is $6.00, but a barrel of under the table Iraqi oil cost French suppliers $10.00? Who is ripping off whom?
