I remember Rumsfeld saying a few times : "it could take a few days, a few weeks or a few months, probably weeks".

He never said he expected the best-case scenarios, it was the pundits and the media who said so. Rummy has been quite careful about his predictions. He hoped for a collapse of the regime (which may come yet), but never out and out expected it. Don't blame Rumsfeld for press hysteria.

There was also a full frontal psyops campaign going on before the bombs started to drop. "We are so big and so powerful and Saddam is going to die so you might as well give up".

We are well into a frontal cortex mode right now. In the absence of facts the frontal cortex creates a story to explain what is happening. We all have our stories because none of us have many facts.

Rumsfeld is from Illinois. We have learned things never work out for the best and always have plan B and C waiting.

Just more of the straw men, Nadine. Nobody ever said it was going to be a "cakewalk", but some insist on beating on that one.

He erred, Nadine.
No northern front, no overwhelming force, arrogance in refusing to take the advice of some of our best military leaders.

His arrogance bugs me to no end. This is not just about Iraqi resistance. This is about his refusal to listen to others.
