John, I participated in two peace demonstrations during Viet Nam. There were many peace marches during that lengthy conflict that raged from 1965 through 1972....thats a heck of a long long time.
I really believe that the length and cumulative loss of life just burnt out Johnson in the end and Nixon knew he had to end it. Did the peace activists help? Sure. Did they shorten the war? 7 years is a stretch to claim they had much of an impact...maybe at the very end. Just my opinion of it.
