Saddam didn't creat smallpox, but lots of people think he has some, including us, the Brits, the Germans, and the Israelis, all of whom have stockpiled vaccine. Israel and the US stockpiled theirs early enough that they are in the process of vaccinating their citizens. So please don't tell me my imagination is working overtime, it's patronizing, rude, and ignorant of the facts.

If smallpox gets loose again, it won't stay put. It's far more contagious than AIDs, and kills far quicker. Also, there is no cure. None. No matter how rich you are, you can't get a cure. No fancy chemical cocktails will save you.

However, you can avoid it by avoiding contact with those who are exposed. People living side by side in teeming cities (Bombay, Cairo, Hong Kong, Sao Paolo, etc., etc., etc.,) will be more likely to get it than farmers.

However, very few people in the US or Israel will die because we've got vaccine - unless Dr. Germ (there really is a Dr. Germ, I posted about her earlier) can develop an alternate strain - so hopefully knowing this Saddam has little incentive to use it.
