The reason put forth by those who espouse the doctrine is that since the US is the lone "superpower" in the world, we can now go ahead and cement that position through military expansion. The basis for using military expansion as a means does not address whether it's wise or whether the US, as less than 5% of the world population using over 30% of the world's resources, will be able to justify its actions to the other 95%+. Manifest destiny reborn.

There is a very good reason why you have not been able to locate such a valid argument. It's very sad. I am proud to say, however, that this is not an American attitude. It may be a US government attitude but it is NOT held by all Americans.
