The wells are not capped yet. Certainly, no reasonable person can argue that our "horrible, incompetent" war plan didn't avert an environmental disaster. I think it is an excellent point. There is almost no mention of the media as to what we have DONE RIGHT. Controlling the oil fields; getting the port cleaned of mines to allow the inflow of humanitarian aid; destroying Saddam's military while minimizing civilian casualties; treating POWs with respect; etc. There really is no comparison.
