Gee whiz! That's hard. Jobs in SA are also difficult to come by not so much because of the economy but because of stringent new laws which prescribe racial quotas, especially for big companies.

That is true and that is why so many industries have relocated to China or wherever. Time will tell whether an economy which is mainly based on services eg medics, lawyers, financial services etc and little industrial production can survive over the long-term. I hope for the US that it can because otherwise there will be major unemployment, except for the military, that is. In fact, I have the idea that the US unemployment figures, even now, would be a lot higher if "employment" in the military was excluded.
