The small-stock rally I'm suggesting does not involve the 600 stocks in that S&P small-cap index. Those stocks, with capitalizations of $1 billion, and sometimes more, are much too large for the tastes of the most willing of stock speculators.

No, I'm talking about the $10 million to $300 million crowd -- the companies that benefited from lush equity offerings in the Internet boom during the 1990s, and now have donned the cloak of profitability. Or are just about to.

These include marketing company Findwhat.com, entertainment-box maker TiVo (TIVO: news, chart, profile), battery maker Rayovac (ROV: news, chart, profile) and, for those who read subscription service The Calandra Report, Intraware (ITRA: news, chart, profile)
