BAGHDAD, IRAQ—Baghdad resident Taha Sabri, killed Monday in a U.S. air strike on his city, would have loved the eventual liberation of Iraq and establishment of democracy, had he lived to see it, his grieving widow said.

Watched Tim Russert. Came away with a couple impressions. One - it'll take about a month to get our "extra" troops deployed. Two - a sanguine attitude toward a long (5+ years) occupation. I've seen no one discuss the significance of Al Azhar's call for jihad. Fawaz Gerges brought the subject up on Charlie Rose, but it passed right over Charlie's head, and wasn't discussed. Our "leaders" have expressed surprise at Iraqi nationalism. No one seems to know why many young (non-Iraqi) Arabic men are showing up in Baghdad. Our ignorance of Muslim culture is going to get a lot of people killed.
