No game theory provides a mechanism to verify this as oppose to just having faith in your invisible friend being able to beat the other guy's invisible friend...EE was a lot of fun though, I spent all day cleaning the basement and finally threw away my first real (a VAX 780) and desktop (20MHz 80286) computer (not to mention 100 dpi scanner and other goodies)...there is a lot of money in my trash now :)

> I shudder to think what it would take to bring all of humanity under a single ethical system.

Not necessary. Start by using the ethics we already have in common to be the rules for international affairs. Everything else will remain localized to each country until they converge.

You should see me on survival trips! You think I went to all those remote spots to watch the flowers? The difference is, I am smart enough to rarely if ever get myself in the situation that require me to use force. And ethical enough, that baring a matter of survival or something very close to it, I would not break the code I preach.

> We need optimists far more than we need megalomaniacs.

We need optimists more than anything else including realists (meant in its normal usage). I highly recommend reading Learned Optimism.
