I am sure that America has no intentions of becoming the occupier in that land unlike Israel.

As a stated policy, America wants to be the liberator.

Allied forces role is very defined, for a short period of time and clearly designed for the benefit of the people of Iraq.

ALso this was a smart thing that US is not in it alone. We are part of a bigger coalition, that cannot be given a bad wrap unless something disastrous happens for the world to see.

Thirdly unlike Israel, US forces do not intend to occupy the area for an indefinite period of time.

I am sure some people will try to draw analogies, but they will not hold.

I just can't buy into the notion that somehow lazer guided bombs that still maim and kill are somehow "good warfare".

Its just hype and spin. The U.S. are the invaders and aggressors. I fail to see any moral reason for the war. They are fighting a people that obviously resent their presence.

According to the U.S. "rules of war" anyone not using JDAMs and Tomahawks is "fighting dirty". Somehow its highly moral to shoot from an almost indestructable Abrahms tank using depleated uranium shells to take out irregulars in pick-up trucks. What do these fools like Rumsfeld expect? These people are fighting for their lives with considerably less firepower than the U.S. has.

Back when the shoe was on the other foot. When the U.S. was the irregulars and England the superpower the rule of war was to march towards each other and shoot. That Washington deviated from these tactics doesn't make him a "thug".

The reality is that the U.S. style of war does cause great destruction to characterize it otherwise is ludicrous.

this is a crash course for Americans in getting the kind of international treatment which has long been dished out to Israel...Honest and regrettable mistakes...are portrayed as deliberate crimes.

Yes, those poor Israelis always misunderstood, always maligned, always champions of peace and freedom, just like Bush... You're right. NeoCons are as credible as Israelis and they get to be viewed with the same cynicism.

If anything, this is a crash course in showing that when you behave like Israel you will face the same problems that Israel does.

Excellent Nadine!I Was Wondering How Long It Would Take....

the venerable JPost to begin comparing Israel's mess with this adventure.

This should be adequately repulsive enough for now though , don't you think?

Or will Israel be looking for more sympathy on the backs of American And Brit soldiers in the weeks to come?

I can't wait for the next installment of :

" We be the good guys-It's those Arab basturds " commentary.

Liberation does not equal occupation by the way.

Hello Nadine,
I have been meaning to ask for your further input.

Remember when I commented that "the Frontline Program about the ME,the Neocons and Iraq never mentioned anything about Israel."

You told me that:

"THis has nothing to do with Israel."

Since then:

1. President Bush and Colin Powell made a hasty presentation in the Rose Garden about the "Timetable Plan for the solution of the Israeli/Palestine Problem'. In fact, President Bush is the first to come out publically (so I have heard in the Press) about a separate Palistinian State.

2. Tony Blair continues to comment about the need for the implementation of the "Timetable as part of the ME solution."

3. Ten BIllion dollars was in the $77 Billion Extra Appropriation the Administration needs to support this war.

4. The Domino Theory of ME COuntries following Western ideas of democracy lends regional support for Israel's
growth and well-being.

Do you see why I get confused?

I am behind in reading posts.
Has this issue been exhausted?

I am anxious for your expertise on this fuzzy issue.
