You are quite right, Jacob seems to be confused. For one thing, there were no Reaganites when Allende was in power, for another, he was highly regarded as a "third way" socialist by the Left. Pinochet, however, was not a "hero of the Neocons" either. His reputation was irreparably damaged by his ruthlessness in suppressing political dissent, and he was only partially rehabilitated by following Chicago School economics (which helped to increase prosperity in his country), and by leaving without a bloodbath.......
