it worked with the USSR, and it would work with the Islamic nations

doesn't mean you won't have episodes of sporadic violence- but containment beats the kind of war we are getting involved in right now (IMO)

That's the trouble. It's none of his, or our business to tell a country, Islamic or otherwise, that we don't like its government and want it replaced. So why not try the same stunt with China?

I notice that all those who favor this kind of war don't even look at its consequences--more terrorism around the world, and more extremist, fundamentalist influence on moderate Islamic governments that are generally supportive of the U.S. (like Egypt). These are the costly consequences of this stupid, irresponsible decision.

You talk about irrational governments that can't be deterred by sensible policies. Which ones are you talking about--the U.S.?
