The US conveniently placed itself outside of any jurisdiction through nonratification of certain treaties (some of which we were previously signatories to but did not "reup" upon preset expirations) over the last few years as the neocon agenda marched unchecked toward the war. That doesn't make the war legal though. The reasoning is..."if we can't be held legally accountable, we can get away with it". That's like someone thinking the only thing wrong with murder is that he might get caught.
