Disagree ST... The polls, if they mean anything at all, have consistently shown that the majority of the American people support the President, and the program against Iraq and Saddam. It is the MEDIA who has been projecting their expectations on the air, and print....NOT the "great unwashed masses"....as some of the elite evidently think.

Those of us who have been listening to the actual press conferences, or briefings, and NOT the analysts of what they thought "we heard", have known that.

Perhaps many of the current media folks are under 40-45, but that doesn't mean the majority of Americans who read and pay attention are.

Well yes. All politics aside and speaking only about the war, then yes. But I wouldn't say that it is just the media or the public that has had the wrong expectations. I think this administration has been just as wrong. The media may have amplified the views, but they did not invent them. Certainly the administration knew what the public perception was. And they never bothered to change it or tone it down. So either they too thought along the same lines, or they were dishonest.
