jdn, The UN has failed miserably in every world crisis. The league of nations had a similar record in its' dealings with Hitler. The world's alliances are going through another dramatic shift. what the political landscape looks like after the war is over all depends on what we actually find in Iraq, imo.

Th UN is the result of a pre-WWII liberal myth. The "Wilson disaster" was hoisted on a war-weary world in 1945 to allow the voting public to sidestep the reality of the protracted conflict that resulted from the fall of the Axis Powers.

The Cold war was fought and won while the UN pretended it didn't exist. The desire by the European powers to abandon their colonies to the primitive subhumans who now threaten American (and European) lives was given phony intellectual cover by the fake UN.

In the end, it was the cancer created by those primitive subhumans on 91101 that has, for all practical purposes, relegated the UN to the political effectiveness of the Holy Roman Empire.

We should do away with the useless UN, if only because its entire monetary cost is a total waste of resources...
