The argument that Canada and most other countries have turned their backs on the US in their hour of need doesn't wash either. The world didn't see Iraq as being the defining item of Americas moment of need. That moment was Afghanistan, it was sanctioned by world rules (UN) and we were there.

Condor, first let me assure you, the majority of Americans don't really care about what Canada does or thinks. The only place I ever see or hear Canada mentioned is on this thread.

I think your last sentence sums up what I believe to be the widely held opinion of Canada ....

Basically, the U.N. sanctioned Afghanistan .. so hey, we Canadians are right there big brother ....

Iraq ? Oh, the U.N. didn't say it was ok .... so we're gone bud ....

In each case, I don't see Canada taking their own independent stand on the issue .... I just see them going with the flow.

Much safer approach ... doing the tough work is best left to others.
