Well, I agree with you actually. You are quite right and I only included half of the total. The dumb thug does indeed create the external reality, but as you say, our internal reality is usually what gets us to where we are and bad situations are usually of our own making or at least as a result of our own bad choices, often because of our own bad models of where the picoseconds are leading.

My point was really just that the self-management theorists go overboard with the 'look inside' idea and deny that the actual external world is very very big and very very powerful. They [the ones who do and there are a lot of them] also deny the future and say the silly 'live in the present', 'Just Do It' nonsense.

I do NOT have too much time on my hands. I have an absurdly small share of time. My clock is running along at a good speed and without much money left in the meter. I'm like a neocon in that regard - I want more!, More!!, MORE!!! MORE!!!

So, to make my position clear; yes, look inside, check your premises, ponder your motivations, question your decisions, plan an alternative reality, but first, shoot the dumb thug with his boot on your neck with a round of depleted uranium right through the front of his thick skull, because thinking is very difficult when in a sensory deprivation solitary confinement with a boot on one's neck. That tends to focus one's thinking.

PS: I have even woken at 5 am and find there is time hiding in the middle of the night, but now I'm sleepy again...zzzz.....

<The act of self examination does not mean that you'll always find out that you're wrong. >

Nor would ANYONE speak of reflection with a boot on the throat or truck crossing the center line [nor do you think as has been pointed out] for that matter, as if that has anything to do with the subject being addressed... just more 'nonsense' from someone going 'overboard' claiming someone else has gone overboard.
