This, I assume, is the way to be a leader in globalization.

My understanding is that it is more the way to be resented, which is a Very Stupid Thing if your actual goal is to make the world a safer place for Americans.

I'd like to agree with them, but damn, it makes me want to cry. I'd sure like to read foreign history books in about 50 years. Anyway, one day, the will figure out that the rest of the world does count. Arrogance is a deadly sin.

The republican guard units will start surrendering wholesale as we engage them, imo. This will end as quickly as it started and just as the Taliban was run out of Afghanistan by the Afghan people, the Iraqis will run the remnants of the dying regime out. The suicide bombers will not be tolerated by an Iraqi people who are ready to rebuild and can soon be enthusiastic about their future. I am not saying that there will not be continued resistance but it will be the exception and not the norm.

I think that it is possible for the US to forge a lasting, prosperous relationship with Iraq.

Then we will see the French and the Germans and the rest looking open mouthed with awe and with hats in hand.

Just my opinion.
