I'm Canadian.

There is no doubt Saddamn is a goon but this WMD argument also has some irony attached to it. I can't see the difference between "posion gas", state of the art weapon circa 1917, and JDAMs that obliterate every living thing within 1000m. In fact you can at least protect yourself against poison gas.

Iraq had to get rid of their WMD so they don't pose a risk to the rest of the world as an aggressor nation. The solution? The US, the grandaddy of all nations possessing WMD, unilaterally acts as an aggressor nation against Iraq.

My view is that the above is all a sideline anyway to deflect from the real reasons for the war. Yes, oil and Iraqs strategic position in the ME.

True the US "may" have noble goals in that they hope by making Iraq democratic the rest of the ME will fall into place but something about this war makes me nervous. I've always been an admirer of the US. However this war does reek of "imperialism". I think Cheny, Rumsfeld and Bush really got this wrong.

I don't think BEEF JERKEY forgot KLP......he and his country weren't ever brutally attacked by religious fanatics.

Let us not forget that the people of the US aren't going to wonder any longer whether we will be attacked like we have been for the last 30 years.

Let us not even speculate that we are hated for believing in who we are.

Let us not hope that we will be loved because we were willing to take it once in awhile for the sake of some utopian peace.

Let us not imagine that the world community has our best interest at heart when it comes to the defense of our country or the survival of our people.......and let us never for a minute think that today the governments of France, Canada, Germany or Syria really sympathize with that reality.

edit: Let's also not imagine in our wildest dreams that the International community, or the UN, will condemn the fact that the Red Cross hasn't been able to see our POWs.
