You should have said it was a "rule"

...is this close enough?

Rumsfeld told troops last month that "it could last, you know, six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."

How about a referral from a senior Bush aide...

As recently as Monday night, a senior Bush aide briefing reporters on condition of anonymity observed that "the secretary of defense has right along said that he thought that fighting was likely to last weeks, not months."

That's not to say that Rumsfeld hasn't said something different.....

"We've never had a timetable. We've always said it could days, weeks or months and we don't know. And I don't think you need a timetable," Rumsfeld said on ABC's "This Week."

Now what?
