Very shortsighted.

While on a standalone market basis, the airline industry should likely have fewer players, fewer routes, higher prices, and lower wages.... concern about safety, security, and the 2nd order impacts on the extended economy (business and leisure) are likely too great to let it go through the natural economic cycle unaided.

Buddy, On the other hand, do we want $3000 tickets to travel across country? I don't know what the solution is. JBLU and LUV make money by avoiding expensive airports. Disconnecting major cities from each other is not the answer either...
