That's fine........but instead of worrying about the "lamebrain mouths" Hollywood types, you might want to consider the small minded lamebrains who would burn a cd in response to an celebrity exercising their right to free speech. How is that any different from burning books?

I don't know that it IS different from burning books. If I have books I want to burn then I have every right to do so. It isn't a freedom of speech issue. Nobody has tried to tell the Dixie Chicks what they can and can't say. People are just telling them, "if you say certain things, I won't like you any more".

Yes, it is.....the message is this: if you say what you want, I won't buy your products you bad women and teach you a lesson! By doing that, they are trying to force the D.C. into saying what they want to hear. Its one thing to boycott a person or some company because they are doing something bad and its quite another thing to boycott someone because of what they have said or their political views. Its chickenshit.

Its not the Susan Sarandons we have to fear. Its the Bill O'Reillys and Joe McCarthys

Personally, I don't "fear" any of them. Whatever you say about O'Reilly, the guy presents well-reasoned arguments for most of what he says on his show.

Well reasoned? Are we watching the same guy? He was talking about Saddam today and all the people he's killed........at one point, the guy who was on his show said 200k Kurds easily. That is pure speculation and O'Reilly knows it but he went for the number anyways.

Then O'Reilly went on a tirade about how Syria has helped Saddam and should be punished. Then it was brought to his attention that the US helped Saddam in the 80s. Oh, yeah was his response.....no tirade.

Then like J. McCarthy, he went after some professor from Columbia. He admitted at the beginning of this tirade that what the professor said was alleged but that didn't stop him from trying and convicting and sentencing the guy.

Here's this guy going after people on national tv and the people in question have no way of defending themselves. Its very similar to the way McCarthy operated.

I hope most Americans see through his gimmicks.

Occasionally he goofs, he doesn't often take a position that is way off the mark. You can't say the same about Sarandon; her position on the war was, like that of many other liberals, ludicrous.

Ludicrous by your standards........there is a whole world of people out there that don't think like you do, and its not because they have a lesser brain.

EDIT. I wonder what happened to Z. He should have been back from the Catskills by now.
