Nadine, To be honest I am surprised also.

I am not taking the "I told you so" posture, though I did write two emails on to the ABC in frustration asking why they were asking every stupid question in the book and avoiding asking some simple questions about the costs of war. To me the costs numbers being thrown out initially ($35Billion changed to later $75Bill) were clearly based on short term scenario. More then Mr. Bush I think his strategists should have been subjected to this accountability, before the war started. Because asking this question now is meaningless, I am afraid we are at a point of no return.

Nadine, I am a big proponent of war as long as the dynamics favor a short term riddance of the regime. HOwever if the war gets into a long term state (several months), this war has the potential of converting a blessing into a disaster. Adverse consequences for us as the leader of the civilized world will be far greater.
