Thanks. Interesting..

America believes in being the melting pot. Canada is the mosaic.

That's an intesting phrase. How does that translate...Does that suggest that Americans are more inclined to want some level of cultural conformity while Canadians are more accepting [or aware] of the cultural differences.

As a friend of mine put it, "You have the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness in America. But in Canada good government is your birthright".

My wife did some work in conjunction with the Canadian government for a period of time. Every meeting she came back from, she commented on how "efficient" they were and their ability to accomplish things with minimal beaurocracy.

OT~ So hard to generalize, isn't it? I live in the Pacific NW...Seattle (home of both Jennifer Dunn and Patty Murray..)is considerably different than most ANY place in Oregon, and different from SFO, and LA....And both SFO and LA are unlike most any place on the planet as well.

Personally, I would view Montreal like France. Closed, and think unreasonably, and inaccurately, highly of themselves. Toronto is active and vital, and cosmopolitan... Vancouver is active, young, rough, and beautiful. Victoria is charming, older, and quite civilized.

Final note, as very rough sketch, east coast Canada is more like West coast US than not. And West coast Canada is somewhere in the middle of the Pacific :)
