The USA population has a compliant, conformist nature, A surprising statement, Mq. What observations do you base it on? I'd say that the fact that the vast majority of the rest of the world is opposed to the war in Iraq while the vast majority of the American populace supports it is good evidence that we are neither conformist nor compliant. You don't have to look any futher than the political threads around here--if you see conformism and compliant posters at any of them, let me know. I'd be most interested in taking a look at such a collection of avis rara. The First Amendment's protection of speech and communications has created an unimaginable number of individualized soap boxes--one of which you regularly use for your most enjoyable rants. The US is a tower of Babel in speech and ideas, not a Teutonic mass of goose-stepping idiots. You want conformisn and compliance, take a look at the rest of the world.
