Thread, RE: "U.S. chip giant Intel Corp. told some employees at one of its Hong Kong offices to work from home until further notice, after an employee showed symptoms of SARS. One of three floors at Intel's Asian sales and marketing office in Hong Kong was affected; staff on the other two floors are still working in the building.

Doesn't sound prudent.

Companies should make people work from home.

I wouldn't keep people working in the same building that had SARS. Reportedly it spreads both upwards, floor by floor and vertically.

I think we're all being too lax on this type of stuff, though some companies I hear are stepping up procedures - travel bans, working from home, etc. Easier to nip it now, than later.

Side note, anyone remember that bad flu that went around about 5 years ago? I remember it because I heard 50% of the people Intel in the skyscraper building in Santa Clara got sick. And then after Intel got it, they spread it to the rest of the Valley.
